3 Reminders for Summer Auto Transport

Whew! It’s getting hot around our headquarters in Dallas, TX. Temps are soaring dangerously close to three digits, and we wish we were heading to the beach. We know that many of you are! The auto transport industry changes during the summer season and we wanted to give you three reminders as you are shipping cars all over the states from coast to coast. It’s moving season, vacation season, and there’s a lot going on! Whatever happened to “lazy” days of summer?

Three Summer Auto Transport Reminders

Reminder #1

Remember that the inside of your car is going to get hot. Really hot. On an 85-degree day your vehicle can reach 120 degrees in just 30 minutes. It’s a good time to remember that personal items cannot be kept inside your car during vehicle shipping. The insurance coverage our carriers have does not cover your items. The Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations prohibit the transport of household goods items in vehicles being transported by auto shippers. It’s a good idea to ship any items you’ll need separately. The heat can be hard on electronics and a lot of other belongings, especially on longer trips in southern states! Not to mention the humidity. Keep your stuff separate and you will thank yourself later.

Reminder #2

Consider booking sooner. The summer months are the busiest time of the year for auto transport companies. More people are moving during the summer months, and with extra time off people are heading out for vacation. This is good, because it’s likely that you’ll get faster service than any other time! We have auto transport trailers going all over the United States. However, be wary of low rates from transporters that offer inferior service. We recommend calling and speaking to the company you will choose. Get plenty of time to make arrangements and reserve your spot by trying to call a week or two in advance if at all possible!

Reminder #3

Be aware that prices may be slightly higher. If you’re shipping on a budget, don’t forget that with all the demand may come a slight price hike. This is especially true around large metro areas like Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and New York. We can’t caution you enough – do your investigation work and research before you book!
