How much does it cost to ship a vehicle?

How much your transport costs depend on when and what exactly you want to ship. Prices are determined by four factors: distance, time of year, size, and operability of your vehicle. Bigger cities also typically cost a bit less because they are more popular routes and transport companies can ship more vehicles at one time making the trip more efficient. All the quotes you receive from Crestline Auto Transport are for door-to-door service.

Does a larger vehicle cost more to ship?

Larger vehicles, like many work trucks, take up much more space on a transport trailer truck than traditional passenger vehicles. Because of their dimensions, these vehicles take up the amount of space normally used for two vehicles, thus resulting in the need for an incremental increase in the rate. Full-size Trucks, Vans, and SUV’s along with various other vehicles fit into this category.

Why may my quoted price change slightly?

The transportation fee as displayed on the Comvoy.com platform may change when we determine your full destination address during your vehicle purchase process.

What types of trailers do you use to ship vehicles?

Crestline uses multiple trailer types to ship vehicles: Flatbed trailer, gooseneck trailer, wedge trailer, drop deck trailer, enclosed car trailer, and open car trailer.

Flatbed Trailer

Flatbed Trailer

Flatbed trailers have an open truck bed with no sides and can carry between 1 and 4 cars.

Gooseneck Trailer

Gooseneck Trailer

Gooseneck trailers generally have an open truck bed, and are typically loaded from the back ramp. They attach to a truck via a “gooseneck hitch” and can hold between 1 and 4 cars. Preferred trailer type for larger cars, vans and commercial equipment.

Wedge Trailer

Wedge Trailer

Wedge trailers typically hold 3-4 cars at a time, carried on the top layer of the “wedge.”

Drop Deck Trailer

Drop Deck Trailer

For taller loads like tractors or other equipment, we use drop deck trailers. The floor drops down after it clears the truck unit at the front, for easy loading and unloading.

Enclosed Trailer

Enclosed Trailer

Enclosed car trailers are perfect for convertible, exotic and classic car shipping. They protect vehicles from the elements and typically can hold between 1 and 8 vehicles at one time.

Open Car Trailer

Open Car Trailer

Open Car trailers are the workhorses of our industry. They can haul many cars at one time, offering efficiency and cost savings for our customers. These are ideal for car dealerships or manufacturers.

How long will it take to have my vehicle picked up for delivery?

It’s not our company policy to guarantee the pickup date, but our carriers typically pick up the vehicle within 1-5 business days. Once a carrier is assigned, a pickup time frame can be determined, and Crestline will work to make this convenient for you.

How long does delivery take?

Because of uncontrollable circumstances, such as weather, traffic, and construction, the pickup and delivery times can only be estimated — a specific date cannot be guaranteed. Your Crestline specialist will monitor the movement and provide you with the carrier’s contact information to keep you informed every step of the way.

Once I schedule my delivery, how will I know when my order is confirmed for delivery?

You will receive an email from a Crestline Specialist confirming your delivery or pickup date and providing details on what to expect at your appointment.

Does Crestline ship vehicles outside of the United States?

Crestline Auto Transport only services the continental United States. However, if you are shipping within the continental United States, but your billing address is outside the United States, please contact us by calling 800.994.1208.

Do I have to drop my vehicle off somehwere?

No, Crestline provides door-to-door service at the pick-up and drop-off location on all orders at no additional charge.

Will my vehicle be delivered on the same truck it was picked up on?

Your vehicle will typically stay on the same truck from time of pick-up to delivery. Be careful of transport companies that want you to drop off your vehicle at a holding facility. Typically, this is a sign that your vehicle will be moved by multiple trucks as they take them from one holding facility to another throughout the move.

Who needs to be available at the time of delivery of our vehicle?

The buyer or their representative must be present at the time of delivery. This should include someone familiar with the vehicle we are delivering. The person signing off on the vehicle delivery should be over 18 years old, and familiar enough with the vehicle to participate in an inspection that will be performed, and a contract bill of lading must be signed.

What payment options do I have?

Crestline Auto Transport will accept any one of the following payment methods: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover.

Will you ship a vehicle if it’s inoperable?

Yes, but it must be noted at the time you place the order. If your vehicle is not operable, an inoperable fee will be added to the transport cost.

Is Crestline Auto Transport Licensed and Bonded?

Yes. Crestline Auto Transport holds license #MC-698686 from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Crestline holds a surety bond as is required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Is my vehicle insured during transit?

Your vehicle is insured during transit by our auto transporter’s general liability insurance. All our carriers are fully insured with most of them carrying up to one million dollars of liability insurance and $100,000 in motor cargo insurance. Acts of God (hail, floods, hurricanes, avalanches, etc.), along with road debris that can cause minor damage to windshields, paint, and undercarriages (just like when you are driving down the highway) are not covered. Our customers rarely report damage due to road debris even on open carriers.

What happens if a vehicle is damaged during transportation?

In the rare case there is damage to your vehicle, you will need to submit a damage claim to Crestline Auto Transport immediately upon delivery via email at info@crestlinelogistics.com. A representative of the buyer must be present for the inspection of the vehicle upon delivery. The condition of the vehicle will be noted in detail at the time of pickup within the Bill of Lading. This document will then be presented at the time of delivery. You must notate any damage on the Bill of Lading before signing it and include it in your claim submission.

Who should I call if there is an issue with my vehicle delivery?

If you’re experiencing issues with the delivery of your vehicle, please reach out to your transportation specialist at Crestline Auto Transport. If you have questions about the process, a Crestline team member can assist you Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST at 214-382-5000.
