This page describes the exact process and language our dispatch team uses to obtain SMS opt-in consent from carriers. It is provided for transparency and for verification purposes.

When consent is requested

SMS consent is requested only after a carrier has already been assigned to a shipment. Requesting, accepting, or completing a shipment with Crestline Auto Transport never requires SMS opt-in. Whether a carrier agrees to receive SMS messages, declines, or later opts out has no effect on their eligibility for current or future shipment assignments.

Method 1: Verbal consent (phone)

Our dispatcher reads the following script verbatim to the carrier:

“Now that you’ve been assigned to this load, would you like to communicate with Crestline Auto Transport through SMS? We’ll use SMS to request status and ETA updates on your loads. If you agree, you’ll get a one-time text asking you to confirm by replying START. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. This is completely optional and has no effect on your ability to receive loads from us.”

All calls on our business lines are recorded, and this recording is disclosed to the carrier at the start of every call. The carrier’s affirmative verbal response is retained as our record of consent.

Method 2: Written consent (email)

Our dispatcher sends the carrier an email containing the following language:

“Would you like to communicate with Crestline Auto Transport through SMS? We’ll use SMS to request status and ETA updates on your loads. If you agree, you’ll get a one-time text asking you to confirm by replying START. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. This is completely optional and has no effect on your ability to receive loads from us.”

The carrier’s affirmative reply to this email is retained as our record of consent.

Confirmation step

Only after a carrier has affirmatively responded “yes” through one of the methods above will they receive a one-time SMS message from our SMS number asking them to reply START to confirm enrollment. Carriers who do not respond, or who decline, never receive any SMS message from us.

Opting out

Carriers may reply STOP at any time to opt out of future SMS messages. Opting out has no effect on a carrier’s ability to receive shipment assignments.
